ABOUT THE SCENE
we make theatre
At The Scene, we believe the best way to learn theatre is to create it.
We're not a traditional drama school. Instead of simply performing existing scripts, our members work together to devise, write, rehearse and perform original theatre using our unique Devise & Conquer approach.
Every project begins with an idea. A creative brief. A question. A mystery. A character. Together, we transform that starting point into performances that are completely our own.
Whether you're joining Acting on Location to create full-scale productions or Flash Theatre to make a brand-new piece every week, you'll be part of an ensemble where every voice matters and every idea has the chance to become theatre.
What Makes Us Different?
Our sessions are built around three simple principles.
Create
Develop original characters, stories and ideas from scratch.
Collaborate
Work as an ensemble, learning how professional theatre is made together.
Perform
Share bold, original work with audiences in exciting and unexpected ways.
ACTING ON LOCATION
Our flagship performance pathway.
Members work together across a full term to create, rehearse and perform an original production. Every show is developed by the ensemble from the very first idea through to the final performance.
Perfect for young people who love creating stories, developing characters and working towards ambitious productions.
MORE ACTING
The Scene, our members don't just become better performers.
They become storytellers.
Writers.
Collaborators.
Problem-solvers.
Creative thinkers.
Because theatre isn't something we simply perform.
It's something we make.
FLASH THEATRE
Original theatre in every session.
Each week begins with a brand-new creative brief. By the end of the session, you'll have devised, rehearsed and performed an original piece of theatre.
Fast-paced, imaginative and packed with creativity, Flash Theatre is perfect for young people who love thinking on their feet and trying new ideas.
