ABOUT THE SCENE

A place to create, perform and belong.

The Scene was created with a simple belief:

Every young person deserves a place where they can be themselves, take creative risks and discover what they're capable of.

We believe theatre is about more than learning lines or standing in the spotlight. It's about finding your voice, building confidence, making friendships and creating something meaningful together.

At The Scene, young people aged 8–15 work collaboratively to devise original stories, explore their imaginations and develop as performers in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Whether a child arrives bursting with confidence or quietly finding their feet, they are welcomed exactly as they are.

Because everyone deserves a place in the story.

Why The Scene?

The Scene is built around three values:

Belonging
We create spaces where young people feel safe, valued and celebrated for who they are.

Imagination
We encourage curiosity, creativity and original thinking, empowering children to bring their ideas to life.

Collaboration
We believe the best stories are created together. Every voice matters and every contribution has value.

These values shape everything we do – from drama games and rehearsals to performances and filmmaking projects.

Meet Sally

The Scene may be a new chapter, but it has been shaped by over twenty years of experience working with children and young people through theatre and the arts.

Founder Sally has spent two decades directing productions, leading creative projects and supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience and self-expression through drama.

Alongside running youth theatre programmes, she currently teaches within a SEND college setting and is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where every young person can thrive creatively.

Over the years, she has had the privilege of working with hundreds of children and young people – watching them grow not only as performers, but as people.

The Scene brings together everything she believes young people need most:

Creativity.
Connection.
A sense of belonging.

What makes us different?

At The Scene, we don't just perform existing scripts.

We create.

Young people are encouraged to contribute ideas, shape stories and collaborate as an ensemble. Alongside developing performance skills, they learn how to listen, problem-solve, take creative risks and support one another.

Because the skills developed through theatre extend far beyond the stage.

Confidence.
Communication.
Empathy.
Friendship.

These are the stories that stay with us long after the curtain falls.

Join the Story

Whether your child is stepping into a drama class for the very first time or already loves performing, we'd love to welcome them to The Scene.

Because every story starts somewhere.

And there's a place for your child here.
